Strengthening Your Hope in God: Finding Light in Impossible Situations

Oct 08, 2023 | Keith Charles

In the midst of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, the recent attack on Israel, and the political divide in the United States, it’s easy to feel like all hope is lost. However, I encourage you to seek God now more than ever before because prayer is the only way to bring about genuine change. “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16 NKJV).  We should acknowledge our sins and pray for each other so that we can be healed. Instead of focusing on the faults and shortcomings of others, we should first examine ourselves. When you look at yourself in the mirror, what do you see? Are you being judgmental? Are you praying for those who might have wronged you? Are you seeking guidance from God? Hope is a powerful force that can transform us even in the darkest times. It is a fundamental concept in many religious and spiritual traditions, such as Christianity. … [Read more...] about Strengthening Your Hope in God: Finding Light in Impossible Situations

Power of God: Unveiling His Infinite Might

Oct 01, 2023 | Keith Charles

Amidst the challenges, uncertainties, and trials we face, it’s comforting to know that there is a source of power more significant than any obstacle. This source is none other than God, our Almighty Creator. Throughout history, countless individuals have experienced the incredible power of God, and His Word – the Bible – serves as a testament to His boundless might. In this blog post, we will explore the awe-inspiring power of God through scripture and offer words of encouragement to strengthen your faith. The scripture reminds us of God’s immense power as the universe’s Creator. Genesis 1:1 states, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” This verse wonderfully captures the vastness of God’s power. With just a word, He brought the entire cosmos into being. It’s hard to fathom the magnitude of power required to form galaxies, stars, planets, and all living creatures! When faced with seemingly insurmountable challenges, remember that God, who created the … [Read more...] about Power of God: Unveiling His Infinite Might

The Power of Unity: Lessons from 1 Corinthians 12:26

Sep 17, 2023 | Keith Charles

It’s easy to become preoccupied with our lives, worries, and aspirations in today’s fast-paced world. We frequently overlook the significant influence that our actions, whether good or bad, can have on those in our surroundings. The verse from 1 Corinthians 12:26 beautifully encapsulates this idea: “And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.” In this blog post, we will explore the timeless wisdom found in this verse and discover how it can guide us toward building a more compassionate and united society. While working on a homework assignment, I stumbled upon a verse that caught my attention, and the Holy Spirit urged me to pause and reflect. I love it when a particular scripture jumps off the page, even though you have read it before and are compelled to take a closer look. To better understand this verse, I will break it down into sections. “And if one member suffers…” It is important to … [Read more...] about The Power of Unity: Lessons from 1 Corinthians 12:26

Falling into Trials: Finding Strength Through Adversity – A Lesson from James

Sep 10, 2023 | Keith Charles

Life is filled with opportunities to test our strength, resilience, and faith and face challenges that make us feel disoriented and vulnerable. But in these moments, we can rise above our circumstances and emerge stronger than ever. The book of James provides valuable guidance on navigating these trials and tribulations and coming out on the other side with renewed purpose and determination. In this blog post, we will explore critical passages from the book of James and discover how to find strength and purpose in life’s trials. “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing” (NKJV James 1:2-4). James explains in this verse that trials are not meant to shatter us but to shape us. Rather than feeling hopeless and resentful, we are encouraged to view these trials as opportunities to develop and improve ourselves. … [Read more...] about Falling into Trials: Finding Strength Through Adversity – A Lesson from James

The Shifting Presence: Exploring the Role of the Holy Spirit in Old and New Testament Theology

Sep 04, 2023 | Keith Charles

The presence of the Holy Spirit plays a significant role in Christian theology, connecting the narratives of the Old and New Testaments. This blog post explores how the Holy Spirit resided with believers in the Old Testament through two examples. Additionally, we will delve into the transformation of the Holy Spirit’s role into a permanent presence after the ascension of Christ in the New Testament. Finally, we will compare and contrast the experiences of the Holy Spirit’s presence in the Old and New Testaments to conclude our analysis. The Old Testament: Limited Manifestations of the Holy Spirit’s Presence In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit’s presence was typically shown through temporary manifestations rather than a constant dwelling. The distinction between indwelling and coming upon suggests a temporary nature. Two prime examples highlight this transient nature. Firstly, the case of King Saul exemplifies the Holy Spirit’s visitation for a specific purpose. “Then the … [Read more...] about The Shifting Presence: Exploring the Role of the Holy Spirit in Old and New Testament Theology

Exploring the Essence of God: Understanding His Attributes and Their Scriptural Significance

Aug 26, 2023 | Keith Charles

Theology Proper is a crucial aspect of understanding our beliefs about God. It focuses on the Godhead and God the Father, distinct from the study of Jesus as the Son of God and the Holy Spirit, though there may be overlaps. In this blog post, I will explore the concept of attributes of God and their significance in helping us know Him as He has revealed Himself to us. I will identify and explain four attributes of God, supported by relevant scriptural references. Many people engage in various debates and discussions regarding the existence of God. Some subscribe to the cosmological argument, which poses that something cannot arise from anything; hence God must have created the universe. Some people believe in the teleological argument that suggests a purposeful and beneficial universe arrangement, reflecting Christian harmony and intelligence. For instance, the distance between the moon and the Earth controls the tides, and the perfect axis of the Earth indicates the existence of a … [Read more...] about Exploring the Essence of God: Understanding His Attributes and Their Scriptural Significance

Rediscovering Christian Beliefs: Basics & Beyond

Aug 20, 2023 | Keith Charles

Amid all the chaos where people are claiming their identity as they please, it’s best to go back to the basics and write about what it means to be a Christian. When we as Christians are questioned about our belief in the Bible, we should be able to give an educated response on our beliefs and why we hold them. Over the next four weeks, I will write about bibliology, theology proper, Christology, and pneumatology. After four weeks, you should have gained a comprehensive understanding of Christianity, including the concept of the Holy Trinity consisting of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. “A Bible that’s falling apart usually belongs to someone who isn’t.” (Charles Spurgeon) This blog post dives into the Bible’s concepts of revelation, inspiration, inerrancy, canonicity, and illumination. Examining its transformative power, we explore how it shapes individuals to reflect the character of Christ. Prepare to dive into the heart of this timeless and life-changing text as we uncover its … [Read more...] about Rediscovering Christian Beliefs: Basics & Beyond

Strength in Doing the Right Thing, When Only God is Watching

Aug 11, 2023 | Keith Charles

In a world often driven by the spotlight, where recognition and applause seem to accompany every good deed, there’s a quiet and profound strength in doing the right thing when no one else is watching but God. This inner power comes from a strong belief in honesty and a steadfast dedication to leading a life by the teachings and morals of the Bible. While the allure of recognition is undeniable, there’s a hidden treasure in acts of kindness, honesty, and righteousness performed solely in the eyes of God. “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” (Colossians 3:17 ESV). The Bible contains many passages highlighting the importance of doing what is right, even if no one else is aware. The Bible teaches us that our actions reflect our character and faith and that God sees everything we do and intend to do. This knowledge should inspire us to remain true to our moral principles even when no one is … [Read more...] about Strength in Doing the Right Thing, When Only God is Watching

Peace Amidst Life’s Hustle: Focus on God in a Busy Life

Jul 26, 2023 | Keith Charles

Life can often feel overwhelming, with endless tasks to complete. It’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters – our connection and focus on God. Finding peace and a balance between work, family, and personal goals can make staying focused on our faith challenging. However, by turning to scripture, we can receive divine guidance to help us stay on track. In this blog post, we’ll explore how to harmonize our busy lives with unwavering devotion to God. 1. Embracing the Divine Multitasking In today’s fast-paced world, being able to multitask is highly valued. However, we often forget the most important responsibility – nurturing our relationship with God. The Bible encourages us to “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (ESV 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18). Remember to take a few moments each day to pause and focus your thoughts on Him. Whether you’re caught up in traffic, taking a coffee … [Read more...] about Peace Amidst Life’s Hustle: Focus on God in a Busy Life

Hiking Through Life: Navigating Your Spiritual Journey with Wisdom and Purpose

Jul 19, 2023 | Keith Charles

There’s nothing more exciting than preparing for a hike in Arizona. Put on your hiking shoes, grab your water, apply sunscreen, don your hat, and hit the trail. As you walk, take in the breathtaking views on both sides—admire the trees, the cactuses, the large rocks, and the wildlife. Your hike should be relatively smooth as long as you stay on the designated path. However, veering off the trail can lead to trouble. This analogy also applies to Christians and their spiritual journey. Staying on the path the Lord has laid out for you, and He will straiten the path for you.  “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” (ESV Proverbs 3:6).  When hiking, it’s crucial to keep a close eye on the twists and turns of the path, ensuring that you stay on track. This concept applies to the journey of life as well. Rather than impulsively running towards the allure of every shiny object we encounter, it’s essential to reflect on the direction we want to … [Read more...] about Hiking Through Life: Navigating Your Spiritual Journey with Wisdom and Purpose
